While it’s no secret that men and women do things differently, it may come as a surprise that one of those things is sleep.
According to The Huffington Post, the team behind the popular sleep app Sleep Cycle recently took the time to learn how sleep habits differ day-to-day in 47 countries around the world. And, of course, they couldn’t resist adding to the battle of the sexes.
A total of 941, 329 Sleep Cycle alarm clock users opened up about their snooze, submitting their sleep data anonymously over a 10 month time period.
In the United States, the results showed that while women are sleeping more than men each night of the week, it doesn’t mean they are happier to start their day at the sound of their morning alarm.
In fact, globally men were found to wake up happier than women on a daily basis in every surveyed country, except Ukraine, Colombia and Portugal. Men in the United States wake up happiest on Sundays, which was also the noted as the day most people in the world are in their best mood in the morning.
However, to no surprise Saturday was found to be the biggest sleep day in the world, as almost 90% of the surveyed countries slept more and wake up later, compared to any other day of the week.
On the other hand, the world was found to experience their highest sleep quality on Wednesdays, with 58% of the surveyed countries sleeping their best in the middle of the week—including, the United States, China, Austria, and Switzerland.
How much sleep do you get each night and how does it affect your mood? Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep each night, without disruption for optimal health, happiness and productivity. Take a look at your sleep habits and make the commitment to improve your life this year with quality shut-eye!
